Second question: Drinking and Alcohol

Everyone who knows me well enough knows that my father is an addicted drinker. It's scary to live with an alcoholic because of the many dangers that they oppose. It confuses me about how someone could drink something that smells and tastes that disgusting!(I have smelled beer before and accidentally drunk my mum's wine, because I thought it was water.)
Onto my questions!
1.) Why do people drink? For pleasure? Pain?Alcohol is the most used depressant.
2.) Why the heck did someone make alcohol(beer mainly)?
3.) Do alcoholics know and understand the pain and hurt they cause around others?

Answer to First Question:Christmas

I found the answers, and it wasn't from any person. It was from God. I had been asking God to show me the answer to my questions. I wanted to know, I was dying to know the truth!
I was dancing with my teddy bear in my room to Christmas music when I figured it out.(Yeah, I'm sad, but I was trying to get into the Christmas spirit!) With the last few days of myself asking God over and over again, it totally hit me. God himself put this in my heart.
The Answer: I don't need to celebrate Christ's birth on December 25th like everyone does. Sure, it seems Christian--and I bet it is-- but I don't have to follow the crowd. I should celebrate Christ's birth everyday! Why? Because if He hadn't been born, I wouldn't be saved; He wouldn't have died; my sin wouldn't be paid! I never really stopped to thank Christ for being born, I only thanked Him for dying. But it was His decision to come down in the flesh to save me. And, why should I care if my parents don't celebrate Christmas? That's their decision. I only need to worry about me and what God thinks. Now, I'm not sure if December 25th is Christ's actual birthdate, if it isn't then okay.
Good question! Great answer!
God bless. And Mele Kalikimaka! :)

First Question: Christmas

As growing up in a Christian/non-Christian home, my family and I never celebrated Christmas. Sure, we did receive presents and we stated,"Merry Christmas!", but we never looked in God's Word to celebrate Christ's birthday, nor did we put up a Christmas tree(this tradition recently started) When I was little, I would ask my mum and dad about this birth of our Saviour, and they would merely state this that was a tradition started by others.
Now that I'm older and suddenly find myself confounded, I now search for answers of this birth of my Saviour.
  1. If this was a tradition started by others, why did they choose December 25th?
  2. If this birth was true and was dated exactly on December 25th, why do my parents not believe even when calling themselves "Christians"?
  3. If God wanted us to celebrate His Son's birthday, wouldn't He had been significant on the date in His Word?
